Towson’s Chase Supensky and Century’s Hannah Zabik – Baltimore Sun

Each week, The Baltimore Sun recognizes one high school player from a boys’ sport and one from a girls’ sport for their athletic achievements.

The elder left-hander continued his masterful season on the mound with a stellar performance in the Generals’ 3-0 win over Baltimore County rival Dulaney on Wednesday. Supensky threw a full game in his third varsity season, scattering four singles while hitting six and walking two. It was the decisive win in a 3-0 week for the Generals, who play in Baltimore County Division A this week with an 8-1 aggregate and a 5-1 mark.

On the season, Supensky is 5-0 with a 0.45 ERA. He has 42 strikeouts with six walks in 31 innings. Second in the Generals’ lineup, the Wilson College commit has a .250 average with seven runs, six RBIs and three sacrificial bunts.

As he led the Knights (8-5) to four Carroll County wins last week — and took them to first place by a 7-1 league mark — the standout senior pitcher dominated on the mound and also produced consistently on the Plate. For the week, Zabik went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 21 innings and hit 26 batsmen. Offensively, she struggled to .640 (9 for 14) with eight RBIs, eight carries and two stolen bases. On Thursday, she had two hits and two RBIs in an 11-5 win over Westminster as she clinched the win. She went the distance with 11 strikeouts in Friday’s 4-2 win over Francis Scott Key.

A freshman in college, Averett University’s signing this season is 6-1 with a 1.87 ERA and batting .486 with 17 RBIs.
