Game 2: Willmar 10, Marshall 4

Willmar used 12 hits to lead it to a nightcap win against Marshall at Legion Field in Marshall.

“We had a lot of contributions throughout our lineup,” said Cardinals head coach Tom DeBoer. “Connor Owens and Carter Schow in Game 1, then Carter in Game 2. After that it was the usual suspects.”

Schow was 2-on-4 with three RBIs in Game 2. Cayden Hansen finished 2-on-3 with three runs and one RBI, Ian Koosman was 2-on-4 with two runs and one RBI, and Brandt Sunder had two hits and two runs.

Hansen ended a strong night on the mound with seven strikeouts over five innings to earn the win. He only allowed three hits and no walks.

“It was chilly tonight, but our pitchers were dialed in,” DeBoer said. “Between the two games we only had two walks and no mistakes. If you don’t give up free bases, you don’t lose many games.”

The Cardinals host Sartell on Tuesday and Rocori on Thursday. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Bill Taunton Stadium.
