(Month Day 2022) – Fans of the burgeoning sport of FootGolf, a hybrid of soccer and golf, can rejoice this summer to an extravaganza of international competitions with three premier events hosted by Walt Disney World Golf. The US FootGolf Open, Jansen Cup and Pacific Trophy will all be played at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in early summer 2022.

Kicking off this international FootGolf extravaganza at Disney’s Palm Golf Course is the Pacific Trophy on May 26, which pits an All-Star team from the American FootGolf League against Team Japan. This event has only been played once before, in 2016 at the American FootGolf League’s home course at Desert Willow Resort in Palm Desert, California.
The American FootGolf League’s US FootGolf Open will be played May 27-29 and is expected to see up to 200 of the world’s top players, both men and women, compete for cash over three rounds of 18 holes in a stroke play format. Known as the US FootGolf Pro-Am from 2014 to 2016, the event was rebranded as an all-professional competition and renamed the US FootGolf Open in 2017.

The biannual Jansen Cup, a Ryder Cup-style event contested by 28-player teams from the United States and the United Kingdom, runs from May 30th to June 1st. This is the third edition of the event held first in 2017 at Desert Willow Resort and then in 2019 at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.
“Our FootGolf offering has served as a gateway to our facilities,” said Alex Forsyth, director of sales and marketing for Walt Disney World Golf, operated by APGM. “We’ve seen families and amateur players who regularly visit Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course to play FootGolf, and now they can come to see the best in the world.” In recent years, FootGolf has grown in popularity, and visitors to the Resorts can play a game of FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course in the late afternoon on select days. A soccer ball will be provided to the players free of charge.
