Washington state prep baseball, soccer tournament seeds set

After winning a district title on Saturday, North Kitsap baseball coach Jeff Weible told his players he would be stunned if the Vikings weren’t seeded No. 1 in the Class 2A state tournament.

Weible’s instincts proved correct when the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association released their state baseball and boys’ soccer tournament matchups on Sunday.

North Kitsap earned the #1 seed in 2A. The Vikings (20-2) open Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 16 White River at Foss High School in Tacoma

Other West Sound baseball coaches weren’t thrilled with how the braces turned out.

Crosspoint baseball coach Derrin Doty expressed frustration that his team finished fourth in the 1B tournament. Crosspoint (19-1) lost a game all season, a 3-2 loss to a 2A Shelton team that qualified for the state. The Warriors, who won the tournament title in the West Central District last week, spent most of the spring at No. 1 or 2 in the state’s RPI rankings.
