SAN ANGELO – Summer break is a few weeks away and organizations are opening up registration for summer camps.
For parents racking their brains about how to keep their kids happy and busy this summer, here is a list of San Angelo’s summer camps and programs to beat the summer boredom and get the kids off their screens pick up.

When: June and July
The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Love St. will host summer camps including Concho Clay, River Rat Art, Art Camp, Helping Hands, Artist Workshops and more. Age and cost range per workshop. For the full schedule, pricing and more, visit www.samfa.org/camps.

SAISSD Athletic Camps
When: all summer long
The San Angelo Independent School District will host several summer camps for children from elementary through high school. These camps include the following sports: baseball, soccer, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer.
SAISD STEM Kids Camp
When: 13 or 14 July, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m
The annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) summer camp is back. A hands-on opportunity to research robotics, create your own code, or design in the makerspace. This fun camp is open to all currently enrolled 2nd through 5th grade SAID students.
Online registration opens on Tuesday, May 17th at 8:00 am and ends on Friday, May 20th at 6:00 pm. Registration is based on the “first come, first served” principle. Parents will be notified of registration or waitlist on May 27th.
Angelo State Music Camp
When: June 5th to 10th
Expand your musical and performing skills with ASU’s music department. This camp is open to students entering 7th grade through high school. Campers must have at least one year of experience playing an instrument and be able to read music.
Camp activities include rehearsals, dissection, music lessons, a faculty lecture, carnival and afternoon recreation and social hours.
The cost is $425 for students living on campus, $150 for commuters.

Angelo State Athletics Camps
ASU will offer camps for various sports throughout the summer. They range from elementary to high school camps.
Each sports camp can be accessed by sport on the respective website. For soccer go to angelosoccercamps.com, volleyball to bellevolleyballcamps.com and basketball to bellebasketballcamps.com.
May 31-June 3 and July 5-8 – All-day camp for boys and girls ages 6-15. Cost: $210 (including t-shirt)
9th-10th July – Elite camp for girls in grades 8-12. Cost: $205 (including t-shirt, all meals and lodging). Commuter Cost: $180
June 3-4 – All Skills Camps have two sessions per day. Grades 4-7 are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and grades 8-12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost: $115 per camp.
12-13 July – Varsity Positions Camps for grades 9-12 are segregated by position. Cost: $165 for one camp, $315 for two, and $450 for three.
July 29-30 – Team Competition Camp is for varsity and JV teams. Cost: $400 per varsity team and $300 per JV team plus a $20 entry fee per player.
May 31 – June 2 – Fundamentals Camp is for grades 3 through 12. Cost: $350 for overnight campers and $300 for commuter camps.
June 17-19 – Team Camp is for grades 9-12. Cost: $700 per team.
City Summer Day Camp
When: Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. May 31 to August 5, excluding public holidays
At their campsites, campers will play various sports and board games, make arts and crafts, and engage in other fun activities. This year there will be air conditioning in the gyms. The cost is a non-refundable registration fee of $45 plus the first week of camp payment of $65 per child. The camp is for children between 5 and 12 years old.
Parents can register their children with the City Recreation Office, 702 S. Chadbourne St. weekdays.
Grape Creek ISD Basketball
When: May 31 – June 2
Head coach David Edgin will lead the annual girls’ basketball camp in the Grape Creek High School gym. The first session is from 9-10:30 for arriving 3rd-5th Class. The second session will be from 12:30pm to 2:30pm for incoming 6th to 9th graders. The cost of the camp is $40 per camper including a t-shirt. Make checks payable to David Edgin. Each camper will be introduced to the basics of basketball, including dribbling, passing and more.
Prep Academy summer courses and camps
When: June 20-Aug. 20
Dance classes and camps are offered at Prep Academy, LLC, 2430 Sherwood Way. All classes, excluding dance teams, are $54 per month and a $20 per family registration fee. Dancers experience ballet, tap and jazz dance in a super fun and uplifting atmosphere. Classes and camps range from 6 months to 18 years.

Team chip martial arts
When: June 13-16 for Little Dragon Camp, July 18-21 for Kid’s Camp and August 8-11 for Parkour Camo.
Team Chip Martial Arts offers three camps for ages 3-12. No experience is required. The camps cost $199 per child. Register online at jotform.com.
