Amateur Baseball: Lightning notch 2 shutouts over holiday weekend – Brainerd Dispatch

NISSWA — Nate DeChaine hit two home runs for the Nisswa Lightning to give the Nisswa Lightning a 4-5 lead in their 10-0 win over the Freeport Black Sox on Sunday, May 29.

DeChaine clinched the win on the mound, allowing one hit over six innings and knocking out 10.

Kody Rudeisili went 2-3 with a double and a home run with two RBIs. Drew Boland had two hits and two RBIs.

Austin Meister recorded two hits, including a double.

NISSWA — Chris Pederson started a home run as part of his two-hit game and hit six over seven innings to earn the win for the Nisswa Lightning in a 7-0 win over St. Wendel on Monday, May 30.

Kody Ruedisili and Drew Boland also blasted home runs for the Lightning in the win.

Tyler Wittwer had a double. Tory Miller landed two hits for Lightning.

10 Fort Ripley, 7 St. Wendel

ST. WENDEL — Riley DeRosier hit two homers and hit four RBIs for the Fort Ripley Rebels in their 10-7 win over the St. Wendel Saints on Sunday, May 29.

The Rebels used four total home runs to beat the Saints, including long balls from Bryce Flanagan and Nick Jelacie.

One of DeRosier’s homers came in the ninth inning, a three-run shot to give the Rebels a 10-6 lead.

Flanagan finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, including his solo home run in the first inning.

Seth Vagts and Alex Haapajoki each scored twice for the Rebels.

Ethan Branum won, batting seven over five innings.

FORT RIPLEY — Brett Kramer went 3-on-3, including a double and a home run, to drive in three runs and help the Fort Ripley Rebels post a 7-2 win over the Opole Bears to score 7-2.

Bryce Flanagan took the win and threw a full game, hitting 10.

Josh Hukriede scored twice and Chris Smolke had a brace for the Rebels.

PIERZ — Dan Marod went 2-4 with a double and a home run to help the Sobieski Skis win 10-0 over the Pierz Bulldogs on Sunday, May 29.

The skis only allowed one shot over seven innings. Jake Kapphahn took the win and hit out three and Collin Eckman saved and hit out three.

Eckman also had two hits, including a double. Kapphahn had two hits and an RBI.

Matt Filippi went 2-3 with two runs scored and Alex Gwost hit a home run for his only hit and drove in three runs.

Austin Gohl scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs.

SOBIESKI — Dusty Parker won with a double, a home run and four RBIs for the Sobieski Skis 3-on-4 in an 11-1 win over the Royalton Riverdogs on Monday, May 30.

Parker also threw three innings to save and knocked out five. Alex Gwost won, batting five over four innings.

Zach Opatz joined Collin Eckman for three hits while Gwost, Jake Kapphahn and Joey Hanowski scored two.

Kapphahn blew a double and a home run while Eckman also had a home run for the skis in the win.

SWANVILLE — The Pierz Brewers scored 13 goals in their 13-1 win over the Swanville Swans on Sunday, May 29.
