North Carolina’s Warehime Joins Gators as Transfer

A native of Hampstead, MD, he chooses to play his fifth year in Florida.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida women’s lacrosse team on Wednesday officially announced the transfer of attacker Tayler Warehime to the program.

Warehime – a budding fifth year – spent her undergraduate career at the University of North Carolina, where she led the team to a national championship in the 2022 season.

The Hampstead, Md. native saw action in 62 games and made 42 starts during her tenure with the Tar Heels.

Senior Season (2022)

  • Team captain in 2022 along with Ally Mastroianni, Jamie Ortega and Emma Trenchard
  • Saw action in 15 games and earned three starts
  • Finished the season with 11 goals, four assists and 15 points
  • Scored 11 of their 18 shots on target
  • Had tricks against High Point (March 23) and Virginia (April 14)
  • On February 19, he scored one goal and two assists in Florida
  • On May 15, he scored against Virginia in the second round of the NCAA
  • Named to the All-ACC Academic Team

Junior Season (2021)

  • Started all 21 games as a Tar Heel and finished fifth on the team in scoring
  • Set new career highs with 38 goals, eight assists and 46 points
  • Tied third on team by goals
  • Goals scored in 18 of 21 games
  • She tied her career high with four goals against Stony Brook in the regular season and Louisville in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament
  • Also had three-goal hat tricks against Boston College in the regular season, Virginia on April 16, James Madison in the NCAA second round and Stony Brook in the NCAA quarterfinals
  • Tied 38 of 67 shot attempts to earn third place on the team with a .567

Second Season (2020)

  • Appeared in five of seven games of the season and started four
  • He finished fourth on the team with 12 points
  • He scored 10 goals and had two assists
  • Scored her 10 goals on 17 shots, a .588 shooting average
  • Also had three ground balls and two conceded turnovers

Freshman Season (2019)

  • Quickly became a key offensive cog as a newcomer
  • Scored goals in 15 of 21 games with a season-best six in the ACC tournament against Virginia Tech
  • Four goals in their first college game against James Madison and on April 13 against number 3 Syracuse
  • Scored three goals in a row in the second half against Orange
  • Scored a three-goal hat-trick in the ACC Finals win over league leaders Boston College
  • Ranked #19 among freshmen in the nation for 2019 by In lacrosse
  • Named to the All-ACC Academic Team

Before UNC

  • Played for coaches Debi Hall and Shelly Brezicki at North Carroll HS and Manchester Valley HS
  • Played lacrosse for four years, soccer for three years, basketball for three years, cross country once and track and field once
  • Two-time US Lacrosse All-America pick
  • 2018 Under Armor All-America
  • Two-time Under Armor Underclass Team Baltimore
  • Twice Baltimore sun All Metro Choice
  • Four-time all-conference pick… Published career totals of 226 goals, 70 assists, and 301 tie-checks
  • Had 76 goals and 21 assists as a senior

  • Volunteered for her hometown adaptive lacrosse program, helping special education students learn and enjoy the game
  • Her mother played field hockey at Elizabethtown College and her father played basketball at Davis and Elkins College

This is the second transfer the Gators have added this offseason, with the addition of Madison Waters earlier this month.

Warehime and Waters — along with the group of eight newcomers who signed their NLIs this fall — will make up Florida’s new class of 2023.
